To Buy or Not to Buy
That is the Question

Jaws or something else |
I'd like to be able to say that we have done lots of interesting walks today and taken lots of pics of the wildlife that puts on a daily show for us on the water's edge.
There was an early beach walk, but only after getting up at 'dark o'clock' to speak to our UK bank. The size and timing of moving money for house-purchase in Canada, the banks says is very simple. On-line banking! We'll see.
The walk, provided a few Bald Eagles, an otter, seals and two other dog walkers. I've got enough pictures of the wildlife. One curious sight was the fin in the water - see picture. No thrashing sharks taking bits out of boats or boatmen, but a Sea Lion. They like 'sailing', sculling along with their other appendages with one fin out of the water. After a brief bit of research, it is apparently their way of managing body temperature, a bit like a radiator. It seems a shame though to disabuse the other walkers that we have sharks around!
Back for breakfast before hitting the phones; to find a solicitor, talk to insurers and speak to a Geotech, a civil engineering expert familiar with soil and sub-soil ground structures.
About 0.5k from the property is an area of development land blighted by sink holes and landslips - Seawatch. The property we are looking at is definitely OK according to our expert. It was built only after specific ground surveys and necessary mitigation, some of which stem from the impact of the Seawatch problems.
With all our boxes ticked we signed the offer (the process is different in Canada), contract of sale and various other documents. Should know one way of the other tomorrow, rather than today as we'd anticipated. An interesting process!
Then an afternoon run to clear the head.
We're here at the beach location till Sunday so are making the most of the panoramic views and expanse of foreshore. Next comes a lakeside cabin experience in the back country ... best to get the real feel of BC while we're here. Admittedly the panormaic views were somewhat limited today as it's been raining all afternoon and Van Island shrouded behind cloud, or rain, or both.
An early night tonight - probably while it is still 'light o'clock'!
Here are a few more pictures from yesterday to give some colour to the blog!
How exciting! Some piccies would be fab if it comes off, plus when you are open for visitors - ho ho - Bruv
