Black Tailed Deer |
So after dog walking and shopping it was a 40 minute drive to the west of Sechelt.
We were a little early so we stopped off at Coopers Green Park to get the lay of the land. We had driven Redrooffs Rd before and it does have some attractive properties, some though beach front access might mean a steep vertical drop, there are not many areas with a 'beach'.
It's certainly an attractive area as the video below indicates.
We pitched up at the property and was surprised to find an overgrown front yard and a ranch style bungalow in need of a major overhaul and some serious TLC. 'Lovely' might be overstating it! A quick call to the agent confirmed we were at the wrong address, though it was the one they had given us. With a new house number, a few minutes further long the road we found the right house and the waiting agents.
The deer in the picture, happily grazing the trees next door, had given birth to two fawns the previous night, we were told. The agent had a video of the big event. The were fawns were well hidden but the doe seemed relaxed about us mooching around.
The house was on two levels, though the lower level 'studio' was just a large single room with no internal access or services. The first floor had stunning views over the water, but the layout, facilities and 'beach access' would not have worked for us. The shore line had no beach only large rocks that we could easily see Jack leaping off and not being able to get back. The two new properties either side rather dominated the 70's rancher house we had come to see. We let the agent know there and then we shan't be pursuing it - it fell a long way short of the basics for the price. We have confirmed with the letting agent near Gibsons that we'd like to go ahead with the castle of a log cabin in Langdale. We wait to see if we can get that over the line.
