From Open Ocean
To Forest Setting
Sat May 22
We are now in the 'Venice of the Sunshine Coast', with lakes galore. We have two modest lakes on the property in front of the house (the dark blob at 7.00 O' clock in the black circle, it's a large natural pond (with fish in it) and we're close to Mixal Lake to our NE for paddle-boarding, fishing and swimming. We will be exploring tomorrow. Jack has already checked out both of our lakes here and also made acquaintance with the resident Douglas Squirrel, who 'squirrels' at him just out of range! Quite a stand-off. We thought we would have to watch him with the local Bobcat. He has disappeared at regular intervals and comes back wet, when summoned! He is rather a water dog!

We are in one of about 14 cabins set in a large private parcel of forest about 15 minutes from Pender Harbour, where the nearest collection of shops are located.
This end of the Sunshine Coast is much quieter and you get more bang for your bucks. But then it's an hour from the Langdale to Horseshoe Bay ferry.
Before leaving Gibsons we checked out a long term rental at Langdale that we like. Far more space than we need but a good rental price with stunning views and looked in on two more on the way up. One would be OK, right on the water, but a townhouse (one of a run of modern terraced properties) and another we just could not find. So some options to check out after Monday which is Victoria (BC state capital) Day and BCians get to have a long weekend.
‘More bang for your bucks’?? Your exploring continues like the gales, rain and cold here!
ReplyDeleteYes we’d heard it had been a tad inclement. Hope it improves soon. Looks as though we’re set to have another moist day and only improves towards the end of the week.
