Escape from Alcatraz

Baden Powell Trail
Saturday 17th April

It makes a catchy title, but it's not true; though we are out!

We have been very fortunate to be staying in a delightful gardened lower floor suite in North Vancouver, with some incredibly welcoming hosts.  But it's still great to be able to get out and about.

Late Saturday morning and no covid test results had arrived; we feared the worse.  Just as we wound up lunch the email that we had been waiting for arrived.  Negative tests results!

Actually we discovered, that our day of arrival was day one, so we could have done our ten day test a day earlier and been allowed out  at midnight last night if clear test results had arrived yesterday.  So we lost a few hours.

Today was sorting out car hire, shopping and going for a walk with Jack on the Baden Powell trail, which is a ten minute walk from where we are staying.  Only we took a wrong turn and it took us 20 minutes.  We are clearly gong to have to improve our BC navigation skills!  The walk was deserted, no people, bears, just trees.  Very peaceful.

We have a couple more weeks in North Van, before we head across to our next two rentals, one  near Gibsons the other at Garden Bay.  We think this is the area where we will want to find a long term property.  Gibsons is a 40 minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay.  It's on the mainland NW of Vancouver but only accessible by ferry.

Some images from our walk.  A bit like Savernake Forest - only bigger!

  1. Your local forest walk looks wonderful. Glad you got the positively negative results when you did. Penstemons are doing well. Linda
